The 19th century (1801–1900) was a period in history marked by the collapse of theSpanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Holy Roman and Mughal empires. This paved the way for the growing influence of the British Empire, the German Empire, the United States and theEmpire of Japan, spurring military conflicts but also advances in science and exploration.
For the Shores line of the family tree, the 19th century was brought in by Johannes "Jon" Schor who was born 23 Jun 1793 in Surry Co., NC (died 1884 in Banks Co., Georgia and his wife, Mahalia Suddeth who was born in 1792 in North or South Carolina (died 15 Mar 1876 in Belton, Banks County, Georgia). They were married in 1816 in North Carolina.
